The plate heat exchangers are inspected in this step to ensure correct plate inspection and de-scale plates for optimum heat-transfer performance. Prior to doing any work on the unit, our certified professionals with years of experience with various heat exchanger brands and models inspect every piece of equipment. Only items that require care will be reconditioned by Techtrans Engineers.

Chemical Cleaning

Fouling of the plate heat exchanger is often caused by low flow velocity through the heat exchanger. The chemical solution is circulated through a heat exchanger to dissolve and expel debris from the plate surface using this method. In chemical cleaning, we use Nitric acid, Phosphoric acid, Sulfamic acid, Sodium Carbonate or Sodium Hydroxide depending upon the material type. Because corrugated plates clear turbulent streams and help remove scale, chemical cleaning is an excellent option.

Physical Cleaning

This procedure entails manually scrubbing the board behind it using a brush to remove debris from the surface. While this procedure is more direct, it is difficult to clean for thicker, harder dirt layers.

Dye Test

Prior to regasketing the plates, our dye-testing sets the standard for finding cracks, pinholes, and failures. After cleaning, dye penetrant testing is used to extensively inspect the plates for corrosion, holes, and cracks. We are capable of discovering even the tiniest flaws using this technology. After cleaning, each plate’s whole surface is painted with fluorescent paint. The plate is turned and thoroughly scrutinised under UV light in the darkened test room after the appropriate exposure period. Damaged plates are labelled and classified accordingly. High-pressure cleaning is now used to clean the flawless plates once more. The plates are also examined for deformation and the gasket grooves are examined. The gasket grooves are redone if necessary.

Preparing and Applying Gasket

Before installing new gaskets, it’s critical to prepare the gasket grooves. During the inspection procedure, we look for a rolling groove to prevent the plate from being regasketed. Our Service uses gasket material that is specifically designed for your working circumstances, as well as adhesives (except clip-on) that are appropriate for the application, temperature, and pressure. This is critical for the heat exchanger to last as long as possible. The adhesive bond in tightened frames is subsequently strengthened by oven curing. The gasket is squeezed into the plate groove prior to heating by appropriate tightening dimensions. Finally, plate packs provided with frames are hydro-tested to approximate application operating levels.
